Historical Association Virtual Conference FAQs

We are delighted to host the very first Historical Association Conference hybrid event. Our hybrid Conference will give delegates the opportunity to choose to attend virtually or in person on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 May 2022 at the Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre.

Please note there will be no pre-recorded content to watch in advance of the event. All sessions offered within the virtual programme will be streamed live and available to watch post-event on demand from Monday 30 May until Friday 29 July 2022.

Please find below some FAQs to assist with your planning:

Virtual Delegates

Booking will open mid-January 2022 and will be open until Saturday 14 May 2022. In the meantime, you can register your interest by emailing conference@history.org.uk.

Yes, you can book for the Conference and not participate in the live sessions and just access the content on demand post event from Monday 30 May until Friday 29 July 2022.

We ask you not to do this. Each delegate will be listed individually and allowed into the Conference only if they are registered to attend.

Subject to places still being available you can move to attend in-person up until Wednesday 11 May 2022. Please email conference@history.org.uk to do this. You will be required to pay the difference in the cost of the ticket.

The live sessions will be hosted using Zoom Meetings and Webinars. You can access this via the Cvent Attendee Hub Platform.  By registering to attend the Conference, whether virtually or in-person, you will be automatically set up to access the Cvent Attendee Hub.

In order to login to Cvent Attendee Hub, you will be sent a link in advance. Simply enter your first name, surname and email address.  Following this, you will be emailed a unique login code which will allow you to access the system.

The live element of the Virtual Conference will be hosted on Zoom. If you haven’t used Zoom before, we recommend you register for a free account here and download the software onto your computer or device in preparation for the HA Virtual Conference. If you already have a Zoom account, please make sure you have downloaded the most recent update of the software.

For the best experience we recommend participating on a computer or tablet rather than a smartphone.

All meetings are encrypted with AES 256 bit GCM encryption. Zoom have made end-to-end encryption of meetings available to create a highly secure meeting environment. The HA Conference will only be available to those that have registered to attend and therefore will have the login code to access.

All virtual sessions will be streamed live.

Choosing your sessions

On signing up for the HA Virtual Conference you will be required to select which sessions you would like to attend. You can change your mind at any time when the event is live. Simply go to your schedule in the Cvent Attendee Hub, take the session you would like to change out of your schedule, and choose another session.

Joining the live sessions

You will be sent final joining instructions with a link to access the platform by Friday 6 May 2022, if you have registered before this time. If you register after this time, this will be sent within your confirmation email immediately.

If you haven’t received this email by Friday 6 May 2022, please call +44 (0) 1904 702165 or email conference@history.org.uk.

When logging into the platform you will see in your personal schedule the sessions you have signed up for. Simply click on the relevant session and the join button will appear 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. Click this and the session will load.

Asking questions

During the live sessions, delegates will be able to ask questions via the chat function, although most questions will not be answered until the end of each session. Please be aware speakers will do their best to answer all questions but depending on volume and other activities planned this may not be possible.

All sessions within the virtual programme will be recorded and available to view, on-demand from Monday 30 May 2022 until Friday 29 July 2022.

Yes, please feel free to post about the event using #HAConf22 @histassoc and direct anybody that is interested to www.haconference.com
