Conference buffet and quiz
This year, the Historical Association will be hosting an informal Conference buffet and quiz on Friday 12 May 2023 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa. Tickets are priced at £40 including VAT per person. This price includes a fork buffet, a welcome drink, and the quiz.
Access to view virtual content post-event
To benefit from the discounted member rate, your membership must be up to date, and you will be required to provide your membership number on booking. To become a member or to renew your membership, please visit Membership / Historical Association (history.org.uk).
If you are not a member of the HA and wish to attend the Conference, please note that it would be more cost-effective for you to become a member and attend at the discounted membership rate. Cancellation by you

Received on or before Friday 31 March 2023: 50% refund
Received on or after Saturday 1 April 2023: no refund
Delegate substitutions can be made at any time at no additional charge by contacting email@example.com.
No refunds will be made for delegates not attending Conference or for missed bookings for any reason, including delayed or cancelled transport to and from the event.
Cancellation by us
It is possible that we may have to cancel or make changes to the Historical Association Conference 2023. Changes will usually be minor and will not have any material effect on your Conference experience. Minor changes could include, for example, the alteration of the advertised programme (including speakers) and timings of the event.
Where a change or cancellation must be made because of unusual and unforeseeable circumstances that are beyond our control, such as force majeure, the consequences of which we could not have avoided even with all due care, we will refund in full all registration fees, but hereby disclaim any further liability. Without limitation, we will not be responsible for the cost of any train fare or other arrangements made in connection with attending the Conference.
If we are unable to provide a place at the ‘in-person’ Conference, you will be advised of this change and moved to the ‘virtual’ Conference and provided a refund for the difference. The same will apply if we are placed into another local or national lockdown; you will be rebooked for the ‘virtual’ Conference and a refund applied.
All delegates are asked not to attend in person if symptomatic of Covid-19. The HA will automatically transfer your ‘in-person’ ticket to ‘virtual’ attendance at any point leading up to the Conference. Please note, however, that if you move from ‘in-person’ to ‘virtual’ after Thursday 4 May 2023, no partial refund will apply.
Please note: Full payment for your booking must be received prior to the event.
Payment must be made in GBP sterling. Payments can be accepted by credit/debit card (Visa and Mastercard only) and by invoice with a strict 14-day payment term.
Please note that if payment is not made by credit or debit card at the time of booking, this is required either within 14 days of the date of registration or before Thursday 4 May 2023, whichever is sooner (the due date will appear on your registration confirmation). Any booking made after this date will have to be paid for at the time of registration with a valid credit/debit card.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to any delegate who has not paid in full by the due date. Any unpaid invoices by this date will revert to the standard full payment charge (regardless of initial registration date) and will be payable within 14 days.
The registration form constitutes a legally binding contract and, by confirming, you are legally obliged to make payment for all fees as applicable by your registration.
